Busta Rhymes Produces Sing-A-Long LP for Toddlers

When Busta Rhymes appeared in court for charges of third-degree assault after attacking a man in a New York City night club in December 1997, the Judge, Latoya Swanson, sentenced him to three months probation, a $2,450 fine and three weeks community service.

As part of his community service duties, the rap star was ordered to work in the local Brooklyn kindergartens, inspiring him to write an educational sing-a-long LP for toddlers. ‘Busta Nursery Rhymes’ was released on Flipmode in April 1998 with sales limited to pre-school outlets.  Songs listed on the rare album included:

  • Lil’ Kim’s Muffet
  • Grand old Duke of New York
  • Ol’ Dirty B*****d Had A Farm
  • Hey Shizzle Nizzle, the Cat did a Whizzle
  • Tweedlehip and Tweedlehop

Plans to  build a ‘Little Bustas’ Daycare centre were abandoned later that year after Busta Rhymes got bored.
